Dear Friends,
As many of you are aware, Dr. John S. Cardwell passed away in May 2026. Throughout his career, Dr. Cardwell’s goal was to provide the highest level of dental care with compassion while helping his patients achieve better health and an improved quality of life. Along with his team, one of the greatest joys of his practice was building lasting relationships and friendships with each of you.
On behalf of Dr. Cardwell, his family, and his team, thank you for the trust, loyalty, and friendship you have shown throughout the years. It meant more to him than words can express.
As caretaker of Dr. Cardwell’s estate, I have had the responsibility of managing his dental practice in a way that honors his wishes and the legacy he worked so hard to build. With that in mind, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Jakob Jalowy, DDS, will be acquiring the practice at the end of September.
Dr. Jalowy is committed to continuing the compassionate, personal care that has always been at the heart of this practice. You can expect to see a familiar faces with Karen greeting you. Your dental records will remain securely with the practice and in the care of Dr. Jalowy. Our goal is to make this transition as comfortable and seamless as possible for each of you.
A Message from Dr. Jakob Jalowy

I am truly excited to meet each of you soon. I know I have some very big shoes to fill, but I believe you will find that Dr. Cardwell and I share many of the same values when it comes to caring for our patients.
One of Dr. Cardwell’s well-known sayings was, ‘I would not do any work in your mouth that I would not put in my own mouth.’ That philosophy says so much about the way he practiced dentistry. He held himself to an incredibly high standard and was a true craftsman who took great pride in his work.
I hold myself to that same high standard of care. I promise to listen to you, treat you with respect, and care for you with compassion. I truly love practicing dentistry and having the opportunity to help others. I look forward to getting to know you and your families, earning your trust, and continuing the legacy of exceptional care that Dr. Cardwell worked so hard to build.”
Meet
Dr. Jakob Jalowy
Dr. Jakob Jalowy is a third-generation dentist from East Bernard, Texas. From an early age, he had a compassionate heart and an interest in healthcare and caring for others. He ultimately fell in love with dentistry while watching his father and grandfather practice and seeing firsthand the relationships they built with their patients.
Dr. Jalowy earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2016 and went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Health San Antonio School of Dentistry in 2021.
Dr. Jalowy especially enjoys getting to know his patients, helping them feel comfortable in the dental chair, and giving them a reason to smile. Outside of the office, he enjoys volunteering, traveling, spending time outdoors, cooking, and being with his family. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, hiking, and metal detecting.
Dr. Jalowy and his wife, Macie, a labor and delivery nurse, have been married for nine years. Together, they are raising their son and three daughters and are proud to call this area home.
We are grateful for the many years you entrusted your care to Dr. Cardwell and his team, and we look forward to welcoming you as this next chapter begins. While the name of the dentist may be changing, the commitment to treating patients with kindness, integrity, and excellent care will remain.
